Eldercare Celebrates 50 Years of Senior Care
In 2023, Eldercare At Home reached its golden anniversary, marking 50 incredible years of providing compassionate, quality in-home elder care services. It’s a momentous occasion that fills our hearts with gratitude and reflection.
Founded in 1973 by the visionary Carroll Herring, Eldercare blazed the trail as Wilmington, NC’s first in-home senior care company. Carroll’s passion for helping seniors age in place laid the foundation for what would become a legacy of caring that thrives to this day.
As we celebrate this occassion, we reflect back on the key moments throughout Eldercare’s rich history:
1973: Carroll Herring blazed the trail by founding Wilmington, NC’s first in-home senior care company, Eldercare At Home.
1994: Following in his parents footsteps, Russell Herring created AssistedCare. Established as a personal care company, it later expanded.
2017: The Herring family joined forces to create a unified entity, AssistedCare at Home. The powerhouse organization provides services for developmental disability, private duty nursing, and home health.
2023: A remarkable milestone is reached as Eldercare At Home commemorates 50 years of unwavering commitment to exceptional in-home care.
Russell Herring, our esteemed CEO, reflects on the profound impact of his mother’s vision, saying, “I am so grateful that my mother had a vision to start a business where she saw a need that wasn’t being addressed 50 years ago in Wilmington. She worked tirelessly for so many families in this community. To see how homecare developed through her eyes, right out of our garage, is incredibly special.”
The journey has been incredible, and as Russell Herring expresses, “To know that my mother, Carroll Herring, planted one of the first seeds of that industry makes me very proud.”
At Eldercare, our dedication to enhancing the quality of life for seniors and their families remains unwavering. As we celebrate 50 years, we extend our heartfelt gratitude to our clients, their families, and our wonderful community. Here’s to the next 50 years of compassionate care and continued growth!
